[edit] Flash Integration

Looks like you still haven't worked out the flash integration into the homepage. Is this installation of mediawiki dedicated to this project, or is it shared among multiple wikis on campus? If it's standalone, we can take a shot at tweaking the rendering templates...

We're trying one server-side method to correct the problem. If that doesn't work, maybe we can try the "rendering templates" method. We should know in the next day or two. FYI, this is a dedicated installation to the Heritage project - as far as I know its the only Wiki on campus right now. I'll get back to you soon about the flash.--RKurz 15:08, 8 November 2006 (EST)

Rich, just hit me up whenever. I haven't tweaked MediaWiki before, so this is somewhat new to me. I'm sure we'll be able to figure it out. --Scrittler 12:43, 13 November 2006 (EST)

[edit] Creating a standard layout format for all biographies

We would like to maintain a standard layout for all LEHI entries. Uniformity makes using this site easier. Visitors who wish to add a new entry should only have to concern themselves with content and images. The less work visitors have to do concerning the layout of their entry, the better.

Infoboxes appear automatically on the upper right side of the page. Users need only worry about filling in the information required for each category within an infobox. Discussion on what should be included in infoboxes is encouraged.

Biography bodies should be divided into several different subheadings. These subheadings can be determined by each entry writer or editor. They should follow some chronological organization, beginning with the person's youth and ending with the most recent significant event in his/her life.

I have taken up the habit of writing a significant date and event at the top of each biography in italics. Whether or not this is a necessary addition to all entries can certainly be discussed. I've also begun the bodies of all of my entries with a two or three sentence paragraph that highlights one extra-important achievement in the person's history. I see it as a kind of journalistic thing--give the most important information at the very top of the article, and if someone doesn't want to read the whole thing, then at least they have that first little bit to learn from. --Brad 10:37, 30 November 2006 (EST)
