Played in 1981 Superbowl with the Cincinnati Bengals

Steve Kreider spent eight seasons in the NFL playing wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals. He was the first of only two Lehigh alumni to have played in the Superbowl.

In 1977, Kreider was named an All-American in Division II college football and was a key player in the Engineers' first ever national championship. He graduated from Lehigh with a BS in engineering in 1978 and was drafted the following year in the sixth round by the Cincinnati Bengals. In 1981, at 23 years of age, he played in the Bengal's first ever appearance in the Superbowl, catching two passes for thirty-six yards. The Bengals lost the game 21 to 26 to the San Francisco 49ers and their roster full of future hall-of-famers.

When Kreider graduated from Lehigh, both he and his now wife, Nancy Barrett Kreider, were named recipients of the Lehigh Alumni Association's Undergraduate Merit Award. It has been said that Nancy was interviewed by one of the major television networks about the thrill of the Superbowl when Steve and the Bengals reached that exalted game. When asked about the excitement surrounding the event, she responded, "Well, it's impressive, but not so exciting as the Lehigh-Lafayette game."

He and his wife have four children and reside in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.
