John Hill was an All-American center on Lehigh's football team in 1971. The following spring he graduated with his bachelors in engineering and was selected by the New York Giants in the sixth round of the 1972 NFL draft. In 1975, he joined the New Orleans Saints organization where he played starting center and tackle until 1984. Hill finished his career with the San Francisco 49ers in 1985. He was honored for his impressive career with the Saints in 1992 when he was inducted into the organization's Hall of Fame. He spent nine seasons as starting center and four seasons as co-captain with the Saints.
In 2006, Hill was inducted into the Saints' All-40th Anniversary Team.
