2003 – Appointed President of Clarkson University

Anthony Collins received his masters in civil engineering in 1973 and later his doctoral degree in 1982 from Lehigh. He is a native of Melbourne, Australia and received his undergraduate degree from Monash University. Clarkson University hired him as an Assistant Professor of civil engineering in 1982. Over the coarse of twenty years, he climbed his way through the ranks to Professor, Department Chair, VP of Academic Affairs, Dean, and finally President of the university in 2003. His leadership has gained him national recognition. Clarkson University is located in Potsdam, New York and is home to over 3,000 students.

In February 2006 Collins was awarded the Lynn S. Beedle Award at the 71st annual Fritz Engineering Research Society (FERS) Banquet. This award, endowed by gifts from the Civil and Environmental Engineering faculty at Lehigh University in 2003, is given annually to honor a Lehigh University Civil and Environmental Engineering graduate or faculty member for outstanding achievements in, and contributions to the advancement of the field of Civil and Environmental Engineering in education, scholarship, professional leadership, industrial achievement, or a combination of these.

Collins is a board member of Central New York Metropolitan Development Authority (MDA), CITEC Manufacturing & Technology Solutions, and New York Indoor Environmental Quality (NYIEQ) Center, and the Chair of the Associated Colleges of St. Lawrence Valley.
